Remote Big Data Engineer

I am looking for a skilled Big Data Engineer to join our fully remote team in Africa/EU. You must possess a solid understanding of big data technologies and excel in coding, providing technical leadership and ensuring high-quality, clean code aligned with project objectives. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, you will deliver rapid prototypes and operationalize code while maintaining accessibility standards. Your expertise should include familiarity with modern frameworks, Clean Code, TDD, BDD, CI/CD, and DevOps practices. Essential qualifications include a minimum of 5 years' experience following Clean Code/SOLID principles, proficiency in Functional Java or Scala, and in-depth knowledge of Hadoop technologies such as HDFS, Spark, and Kafka. Additionally, experience with AWS Big Data/Analytics services, NoSQL databases, and build tools is required. Desirable skills encompass advising on best practices and new technologies, handling and scaling large datasets, and setting up big data tech stacks. This position is open to candidates with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the UK, Africa, or EU.
